I have a Dell GX620 machine, this is a Ultra Small Form Factor PC and look like this:

The spec of the machine is as Follows:
Pentium 4 640 3.2ghz (single core)
2 Gig Ram
80 GIG HD
Intel inbuilt Video Card
Now I have Windows XP Pro on there and have tried Ubuntu on there before, Ghosting my WINXP up so I can quickly go back should I need to. It worked well and had the 3D Desktop (Compiz) and I even ran a script to update and build the Mangos (WoW) Server. I resorted back to windows for some reason or another and it’s been like that for some time.
The uses for this Machine are as follows:
1. Torrent Downloading for Overnight large files.
2. Using NewBin pro to grab the odd thing from the news groups.
3. Grabbing the source files for Mangos which is a WoW Server written in C++
4. Compiling No. 3 using Visual Studio 2005 Pro edition.
Why am I thinking of Switching this Linux?
I can use Torrent on Linux in much the same way and I do not really get a lot of them anyhow. The news groups is a problem but at the most it can be moved to another machine if required. As for Mangos – I am not really that bothered if I stop doing it as Im sick of it now. Windows works but I feel somehow Linux would be better suited – the thing is does it really matter? I can run Linux in a Virtual machine and it won’t be a machine i would use no matter what O/S I have.
