Virgin TV – Initial View
As Part of my Upgrade Pack – I picked the Virgin Media ‘M’ TV Deal – this is there lowest TV Package from a choice of three (M, L and XL). I was never a fan of Virgin / NTL TV as there was and always will be problems with this set-up and is in no way a comparison to SKY for example.
iLife '09 – a quick review
Apple brought out there updated iLife Suite – the last one came part of OS X (leopard) 10.5 Series and this comprises of:
- iPhoto
- iMovie
- Garageband
- iWeb
- iDVD
Deal with the Devil – Virgin Upgraded
In an effort to save myself some money and get more for less – I called up Virgin (my Cable ISP) and asked what offer they could give me. I worked out I was paying £25 per month for 10mbit and about £15 for the telephone – there had to be a better deal to be had.
Apple ripoff pricing
Ilife 09 on the apple store USA comes in at $79 but if you now convert across to UK prices – that £69. I used XE to see how much it really is – it comes out as £56 and let us not forget that shipping is added anyhow on top of those prices. The only thing I can think of is Taxes – maybe it is more to sell to UK?
The problem of swapping the $ sign for the £ sign happens way too much though – making the price of the item double the price, they wonder why people torrent? well this is maybe one of the reasons.
Windows 7 Beta – Jan 2009
Yes folks – everybody and there dog is talking about the so called windows 7 Beta MS have pushed out, how good it is and so forth. I need to add at this point that I personally thought Vista is not as bad as some make out but I also agree that even on a fuly loaded system, it is still sluggish compared to XP for example. This is not a review as such (there is plenty about should you need one) but my very first impressions of the beta (version 7000).
TubeMogul – One to Many Video Uploading
TubeMogul.com is an online service that allows you to upload your video once and this will republish the video to many sites such as Viddler, Youtube, Google and a whole range more.
Washing machine tweet's when finished
A Rather nifty guy has modded his (old) washing machine so when it is finished – it sends a Tweet. Quite why it matters to know the exact second it finishes is beyond me but looks cool none the less.
DXG-595V CamCorder – SDHC Recorder
I spotted on Maplin’s site a special offer of a Full HD Camcorder – now after me almost buying the Toshiba one for £150, I was a little worried about buying a Lemon. The price on the site was previously £199 and now it was onoy £149.99. I did a search and came across this page and it seem to get quite a good review. I went ahead and bout the thing anyhow plus I signed up for a newsletter which saved me a further £7 off the price. Now we go onto my own little brief review of the model I had bought.
