As Part of my Upgrade Pack – I picked the Virgin Media ‘M’ TV Deal – this is there lowest TV Package from a choice of three (M, L and XL). I was never a fan of Virgin / NTL TV as there was and always will be problems with this set-up and is in no way a comparison to SKY for example.
The box is quite nice looking – in a fetching Silver – it matches the rest of the AV equipment I have already such as DVD player and so forth. The buttons are responsive enough and are layed out quite well on the remote. The last time I used to have NTL TV Package – pressing the Red button made the box lock up and only a hard reset would make it work again.
They now have “on demand” which is basically the online catch up TV Services from BBC, Channel 4 and a few others built right into the box with no delay in downloading the content plus this saves you having to record or worrying about missing the programs on the channels. I have only had it installed since the 27th Jan 2009 and now on the 31st Jan 2009 I already had a few problems with this box – which is not a good sign.
Upon pressing “On Demand” – you get “please wait” and then nothing. It tells you to reset the box and call 151 if the problem is still there – so we are still at the backend days of 9 years ago I see. I shall see how this goes and maybe also post on the forums about this, wonder if this has anything to do with me not also getting the full 20mbit speed?
