compute

I Looked through the Tech Shows on Ustream the other night and apart from the normal 10 or so which were showing nothing as normal (why??) – there was a new one I had not seen before called Compute-Ability, so I head on over there to check it out.

The show is only live on-line Saturday 7pm EST and the duration is variable. It is run by husband and wife Scott / Jill Liberto who also run a computer business out of Florida, the full BIO can be found HERE. In the time they go live, they basically offer free Tech Support using LOGMEIN as a mean to remote control the person requiring help which is then displayed on the live stream for all to see.

When I did visit they were trying to help a young tech show host by the name of “pj’s-tech-help” and you can already see the funny part of that, a person running a tech show (called PJ) asking for tech Help from another show? He wanted help with his wireless and remote control commenced. It became apparent much later that in fact this computer was not the one needing help and in fact the one that was broke had no internet at all (thus impossible to fix remotely).

They did manage to get the make and model and used his computer to download the drivers, so hats off to Scott and his Wife that they thought around the problem. The reality is they could have posted a link to Acer web site for the drivers and PJ could have got the drivers himself without any remote control – but no matter.

I always state that each Tech person has a different way and level of fixing things – for example I personally would have gathered all the infomation before embarking on any fix. The show and the people seemed good and even with the odd idiot spamming or writing in caps, they remained calm and the show moved along nicely. I would suggest going to the show but due to its limited time online – it may not suit everybody espically UK people seen as it was 12 Midnight when the show starts.
