HoMedics MP3 Cush Music-Playing Massage Seat with Heat
While out Shopping at The Range I spotted a few different Massage chairs / options and they ranged from the one shown above for £24.95 to a much bigger model which came in at £49.95 and all the way up to £99.95 for the complete chair option. They had a few out and I was not too happy at what felt like somebody punching my back and the one you Blow up (with included pump) was more of a chair you relax in.
I took a chance and bought the one listed – if it turned out to be not to my liking, I can always take it back and get my money back or swap it. I first fitted this device to a normal chair in the dining room and basically it came as one using with a fitted remote control and two pockets to hold the remote and the MP3 Player with a wire coming out which allowed the plug to be fitted in. I personally thought that the power wire could have been a lot longer.
The Massage function
The remote has a switch on the bottom which has Off, Low and High, above this is a picture of a man with lights and on the left of each light is the 3 functions – Seat, Back and Shoulders. Right at the top is the heat button and this can be used in tandem with each of the massage sections – it will only work (the heat) if you are both sitting on it and one of the Massage functions is working. The thing works by Vibrating and how much is dedicated the level (Low, High) and if the heat function is on.
Moving on
I now moved this to my Computer Chair and I hit a few problems (of sorts) straight away. The Pockets would not drop down the side, so not all chairs suit this device and also the power lead got in the way so I could not imagine having it plugged in all the time. I tried one function at a time along with the heat and I can say that this works – you can really feel the heat though the vibration was so much that I could feel the floor vibrate. If you have all 3 Motor’s on plus on high – it is really loud. The Tag on the device tells you not to use it more then 15 Minutes at a time and this alone I can see a Problem with.
The whole point of a Massage chair.
If you wanted to relax with – you would want to get your music on, put the required setting and chill out and there is the fear there that you might drop off to sleep for example. This device made no mention of cutting out after a certain time and I saw this on the more expensive models a timer (15/30 Mins). It would work well in the car though – it comes with a lead for that very thing, so if you drove around a lot, you could get this device on for 15 minutes.
There is a 3.5 jack which allows you to plug in a MP3 Device of your choice – this is quite good and was loud enough. After some thought though – I was not happy with this and took it right back but it was worth getting to see how it all works and if this was a device for me or not.
