I always Struggled with the Concept of Twitter but it has some uses such as been able to know when people are going Live with there stream and to pass on communications. I used to have a client or a Firefox Plug-in which gave me real time “Twitter” Messages but these days I am happy to just pull up the web page and see what is happening – save’s me getting annoyed.
Now there is a new thing it seems that has come around, it is called ReTweeting or simply RT – this allows you to take somebody else Tweet and send it back out to all your followers, a sort of “Pass it on” messaging system. Now what happens though if you not only have the original posters on your tweet but a whole bunch of people who also “RT” the message?? The Answer is you end of with a page full of the very same tweet and if that does not drive you mad – then fair play to you.
Personally – this just re-enforces to me to ask myself the question “What the hell use is Twitter?” – I just had a look at mine and I am only following 13 People and apart from a few good posts on there with decent links – the rest are shameless promotional posts about there Live Stream and “I am coming on-line” or a pointer to there web site which by chance I already know !!
Maybe this is why I disabled Twitter the last time? Maybe this is why I dropped a lot of people from my list and who really cares if I used Twitter the way it was meant to be used with me posting:
“On the Computer”, “Writing a Blog Post”, “Playing a game”, “Talking to <person name> on Skype” and so forth..
What are your thoughts on this wole ReTwitter thing or even the use of Twitter Itself? I am alone in thinking this is the stupidest thing ever?
