Dell SP2309W 23inch Monitor

I have been looking at getting some real estate in the monitor front for a while now and looked at various models. My Current biggest monitor is the 21″ which comes in at 1680×1050 and remember the issue her is resolution not how big the monitor is because after all if that was the case I might as well stick a 42″ TV on the wall and run it at 1920×1080 – yes it will be big but silly when you can get the same resolution from a cheap 22″.

As another year draws to a close.

As the year 2009 is slowly drawing to a close – I want to thank all my supporter, haters, people passing by and the companies that have sponsored what is to come forth in 2010 a warm “Happy New Year”. It’s been a rough ride for everybody and let us wish that 2010 provides the answers we all need.

Living with the Android

htc_hero_2.jpgI have now owned and used the HTC Hero G2 Touch for a couple of months now and felt it was time to spill the beans on both the good and bad side of this phone. A lot of people will happily ignore the bad points on some reviews as they are now locked into a long contract but I do not believe in hiding the things that should just work.

Android App Market hits 20K

androidmarket4 The Number of Apps on the Android has hit 20,000 which by comparison, Apple Apps are now at 100,000. This is good news for Android users as it looks like finally the google platform is finally starting to make a dent on the ever popular Apple platform.

The figures were collected and crunched by Android-focused website, Androlib, which hasn’t said where it got its figures. It has however been tracking Android apps since its launch as Googld doesn’t disclose statistical data related to Android.

Nearly a third of those applications are paid for and according to Androlib, the end of November 209 saw a spike when more than 350 applications and games were published on a single day.

Finally, the overwhelming number of applications in the market – 85 percent – are non gaming. Android Market passed the 10,000 app count back in July 2009. 2010 is going to be a pretty exciting year for the Android platform, bring on the Nexus!

BBC News – 4G mobile phone network comes to Scandinavia

4G mobile phone network comes to Scandinavia

At launch the network is only available on laptops

Swedish and Norwegian mobile users could be among the first to use a fourth-generation (4G) mobile network. Mobile phone firm TeliaSonera has completed work on two 4G networks in Oslo and Stockholm.

The company said that the first customers will be able to start using the networks in early 2010. Despite the launch of the network, no handsets can yet use 4G. Initially customers will connect via a dongle and a laptop.

Fourth-generation, 4G, networks are based around the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology and downlink data speeds can hit 100 megabits per second – about ten times quicker than the fastest 3G networks.

The technology has been designed to overlay existing 3G networks and most operators have committed to upgrading to the faster system. TeliaSonera said it was recruiting customers to pilot the network during the first quarter of 2010.

It has released no information about the cost of connecting to the high-speed network. The dongles for connecting to the LTE network are made by Samsung. Phone equipment maker Ericsson has put together the network in Stockholm, Sweden and Chinese firm Huawei is behind the one in Oslo, Norway. Both networks cover the central regions of both cities.

TeliaSonera said it expected the boost in speed to drive many novel applications including gaming on the move and much greater viewing of video on laptops. Handsets that can use LTE are expected in mid-late 2010.

Student Brings Typewriter to Class

Back in the day – there was none of these fancy computers while at class and you had to make do with pen and paper and books of course. Today’s modern age means most students bring in a laptop of some sort and type out there notes. What happens if you do not have a laptop but still want to type? Easy – Bring in a typewriter.
