Its been a while since I last posted some information on how my training is going and no – that picture is not me but I thought it fitted rather well into the title. As a mean of a catch up, I train in my garage with limited equipment, I have some dumbbells and a multibar which allows me to do pull-ups and press-ups. They say training is half guess work in that you try something, see if it works and change on up and while I should really join a gym and do it properly.

Sony Playstation 3 rolls out new firmware
Sony keeps updating it firmware with what they call ‘Security Fixes’ but add nothing that I can see to the mix. I was hoping for example to see ability to play music while playing games and other goodies but the fact remains is that Sony just keep updating the firmware to try and stop people running firmware that allows you to install homebrew utilities and games. The problem is that a person by the name of GeoHot found the encryption key and the only way really for Sony is to replace the hardware – this is not going to happen.
Galaxy Tab drops in Price
One of the failing I always felt of the Galaxy Tab as a supposed iPad Killer was the price – it was about the same. The device while it had some features missing (such as the screen size been smaller than the iPad), it did come with stuff that the iPad just did not have – these been the dual cameras (Skype Video Calling), a browser that supported Flash, a lot of Free apps that did the job very well indeed (compared to the mostly paid-for apps on the iPad) and of course the ability to take a Sim which means you can use it on the go and as a phone. It seems that the price has indeed dropped and you can now pick this up for £359.20 Sim Free from Tesco or the same price from Amazon.
iPad review – the first few days
While this review is technically a year late – the iPad is not a new device and most people have probably seen one, tried one or actually own there own. The purpose of this quick review is to give a viewpoint of someone who had no interest in anything Apple including the iPad and even stating that I could not see a reason to go out and buy one. As you may know from the previous post, I managed to enter a competition GFI were running over the Christmas season and was the lucky winner. As I only had device a few days, it maybe is not a fair review so far, but as I said, it is a first impression of this magical device apple like to call it – does it live up to the hype?
PS3 Wireless Bluetooth Headset Review
Even though the PS3 could be used with my Current Logitech USB Headset or my Bluetooth Headset from my Mobile phone, the Bluetooth headset from Sony designed for the PS3 had a lot going for it compared to the other solutions. Whilst I agree that at this time I do not actually speak to anyone in-game via the PS3, I have already seen items I looked at before go up in price – so with this when I pasted by a store I had seen the price cheaper than the rest – I took the plunge, placed my hard earned cash on the desk and bought this device. The goal of this article is to go through the first 48 hours of owning the device and what to expect if you bought one.
GFI Christmas Competition Winner
Back in December 2010 GFI ran a competition for 10 people to win a 10 user licence of selected GFI software and they said one of these people would be selected to win an iPad. I entered which was simple enough and to be honest did not expect to win. The email came though and to be honest I almost deleted it thinking it was spam – I must get loads of emails every day telling me I have won this or that.
I was informed anyhow that I had win the 10 user of Vipre Anti Virus but I had been selected out of the ten as the iPad Winner. It took some time for the iPad to arrive as it came from Malta (GFI’s HQ) and it had a UK plug.
Thanks to GFI for a great competition and the rather sexy iPad
Wallcast – Bring life to your Wallpaper
Been a fan of Wallpapers, a kind person send called Marie Asselin sent me an email telling me of this fantastic product. Wallcast is a PC/Mac application that transforms your computer wallpaper into a dynamic collage of photos from you, your family, and your friends. It periodically updates your wallpaper with a mix of pictures uploaded online, with the Wallcast iPhone app or via email. My founding partner and I both have family members and friends scattered across the continent and overseas; we created Wallcast to facilitate the quick sharing of pictures on a support that’s seen everyday yet is often forgotten, the computer wallpaper.
Things Google Chrome still cannot do
There is a good choice of browsers that you can choose from and many people swear blind that Google chrome is the only one to use – period. For example at work while I tried all of the browsers, in the end I actually stuck with Internet explorer 8 as all the in-house applications work properly with this. Now for a little while, I was back to Chrome and it almost had me using this as my main browser of choice but there is a few things that just plain do not work on this platform.
God of War 3 – PS3 Review
I plan to go through each and every game I buy for the PS3 and do a review, maybe not as in-depth as some of the major players but mostly from a player point of view. The prices I quote are always UK Pounds (£) and I make mention of were I managed to get it from. let us begin then with this title, God of War III. I bought this game from Curry’s and they had a sale on were most of there games were £9.95 including this one. To my understanding this is a PS3 only titles and once the game gets going – the graphics show how much work they had done.
Killzone 2 PS3 DVD Snapped
One of the many games I bought over the Christmas time for the PS3 was Killzone 2 and may I just add that the game was amazing and I loved every minute of it. A Few facts before I tell my tale of woe though – I am always careful when I remove the Games from the Case, the PS3 is a slot loading machine (which sucks the disc in). I inserted the game into the PS3, it spun up for a while and then I heard a cracking noise. At first, as I had no idea what just happened, I removed it couple of times, wiped it to make sure the disc was free of smudges and still nothing. I had a close look and from the inside rim spreading outwards (about an inch long) the disc had snapped.
