After my Philips Headphones fell apart (Cheap plastic parts I guess), I was looking around for a new set. In my mind I had some requirements, I needed an in-line volume control, they needed to isolate the noise coming out, provide some nice volume and bass and if possible have a single cord for ease of use. I stumbled across these headphones while in Tesco and they were a mere £15 and seem to fit the requirements – but, do they work as planned?
The headphones overview
These are quite large headphones but the design lends itself to not been too tight on your head, the build quality feels quite cheap but then again at £15, what would you expect? The Colume control knob is a circle instead of been embedded and the lead is quite thick compared to other headphones. It is quite a long lead at 2.7M but needs time for the kinks to come out since i has been wrapped up for a long time in the packet.
I tested the headphones on the iPad and while it was loud, it did distort on some songs. On the PC, this was a different story, it is not as loud as my Philips headphones but loud enough (just) for most things I guess. They mention extra bass on the features but I heard none of this.
My Verdict
If your after a cheap pair of headphones that are light and do the job, then spending £15 on these will be fine. I would otherwise tell you to keep looking at other brands as I am sure there is better headphones out there which are maybe just a bit more money.
