In my time I have owned a PS1, a Nintendo 64 (Complete with Doctor 64), Dreamcast and an XBOX and out of all of these, I still have the Dreamcast which works fine (It came from Hong Kong) but of course the years have not treated it well and the games look a bit ‘basic’ to say the least. Recently though I have been thinking and looking at the console on offer, I think what caught my eye was while in GameStation, I saw some ‘pre-owned’ XBOX360 Elite for £99. In the last few weeks then, I have been toying with the idea of buying a box, not sure why I would want one but lets go through some of my thought process anyhow and see how this pans out.

XBOX vs PS3 – which to get?
Goodbye Skype
I thought I would take a break from Tech for this one post and go through some changes of late, some good, some bad and as always “Everything changes” as they say. The Blog is going well, I am looking forward to my first cheque from Google Adsense (which only took me three years to hit the required minimum of £60) – money for nothing right? I do hate adverts and I hate having them on here but they are required evil to keep the site going – Sorry…
Are Netbooks Dying out?
I have heard the USA Based Tech Hosts declare that the end of notebooks is in sight and they serve no real purpose in life and things such as the Apple iPad will overtake the notebook market by next year. I own a netbook myself (the first gen Acer One) and while it does serve some handy purposes, it is not about to replace my laptop any time soon. Do you think the bell’s are sounding for Netbooks as yet another passing fad or do you think they are here to stay?
Taekwondo – the first two Lessons
I had my first two lessons of Taekwondo on Monday and Tuesday and thought it would be a good idea to write up how it went in case anyone else was thinking of starting something but not sure what might happen on them first few lessons. At the moment the place were I train does not force you to join straight away and you can just pay your fee per night (£3) fora 2 hour lesson and if you do not enjoy it – no commitment to yourself. Let us begin then with how it all went.
June 2010 – word up.
First for all the people that follow my blog, I would like to say sorry for the lack of posts of late, while I could have just re-posted news stories from other sources, I would prefer to write my own stuff if I can. As we move forward into Summer 2010, I have a feeling that people are moving away from there computers and back to the outside world and many have started to get fit, me included. The purpose of this post is to keep anybody who is wondering updated on my latest goings-on – enjoy…
What happened to Ron Knights?
Ron Knights produced a Weekly live ‘Tech’ Show – this used to be every Friday at 8pm EST and Saturday at 3pm EST (to cater for the European audience). Ron’s inability to deal with people meant he would block people out of his life (including me) for the smallest thing possible. He swapped from Ustream to Justin.tv – after all the Tech Buzz and all the others had done so right? He even paid the Tech Buzz some money to be part of the IRC Network – the goal here was to live in a Troll free environment as it was managed IRC server and once a person is banned – they are banned across the network.
DVD is Dead
As time moves forward, so does technology and with it the need to store data on something that may last. I only just read about floppies finally dying (though I still have a USB Model and a box full of blanks) and I thought I would pass my thoughts on the media that I use today and why I feel that CD-R and DVD-R may as well be dead too.
Live Streaming shows and time zones
I thought I would write a few words on live streaming shows, how it effects me (and most European people) and time zones. I was thinking back when I used to spend most of my time on Ustream as the site of choice to catch the latest person streaming a show from there web-cam and even stay up late so I could feature on these very shows, armed with IRC Client of choice and be part of a community of Tech minded people from all over the world, mostly USA based though. Of course time changes everything and some things have to fall by the way side, this is my update if you like on how it interacts with my life now.
Training – Still on-going
While I spent every waking hour training in the British Army, it has been some years now since I did any sort of work out and it was apparent by my skinny body and skinny arms – but this changed one day, it was time to get fit and get bigger (and stronger). It is all too easy to put this off, after all would you rather be sitting in front of the TV or a computer then pounding the streets or chucking weights around for hours at a time right? This is my story (so far) of how I aim to get fitter without spending lots of money on gym’s and the like.
Fanboys
It is a well worn subject of the Mac vs. The PC (They mean windows right), we have Xbox360 vs. PS3, iPhone vs. Android and the list goes on. While there is a need to think what you have or what choice you make on buying something matters, the reality is the people who are making the stuff are lining there pockets with the money the Fan boys spend on this gear they think is so wonderful. I aim to discuss what I think the reason this all comes about and to dispel some myth’s along the way if I can.
