Death of the town centre

They say the Internet is killing retail shopping and over the last year I have seen various companies close the stores in the town centre to be replaced by cheaper type of shops such Poundland and the such. Some of the larger stores to close included Marks & Spencer, Woolworths, TG Hughes, BHS, Curry’s, Game & Gamestation. BHS for example replaced Primark who are a much cheaper. Is this a sign of people not having money to spend, moving to the larger retail parks or does it mean people have shifted to buying from the Internet. (more…)
