Google gave a fantastic tool not so long back to the chosen few called Google+ and unlike Buzz before it, this one actually could look like it will work. While the rest of the product is some fluff that on it’s own would be no different to twitter and such, it’s the hangout’s that are the cream of the crop. At the moment in Beta, there is limited control in who does what and it is pup to the people in the hangout to keep control somehow. I have started to see cracks though forming as people revert to more traditional methods (such as Skype).

Microsoft LifeCam Studio Web camera Review
Of the many Webcam’s out there, Microsoft feel they can offer a true HD experience with there Microsoft LifeCam Studio. While the initial price was closer to £80, it has dropped all the way down to £50 which means its is either very good value or it was not quite as good as first thought and is not selling. I had the chance to try one out for a brief period and everything recorded was using the supplied software and office style lighting. The question on your lips when you stand in the store will be “Is this worth the money and should I buy it”. I hope the video and pictures presented can in some way help you make that choice.
Streaming Sites suffer downtime
First the issue started with Justin.TV and then later on visiting the Ustream main page – I got the above error. This leads me to believe that they may be swapping things around on the back end, introducing new features maybe? This is probably the first time I have come across the sites displaying this type of info and having actual downtime. Did this stop anybody from broadcasting? Did you notice the numbers much lower than normal? Did you get some warning of this before it happened?
Dell SP2309W Monitor Review
This is an initial overview and brief review of the Dell SP2309W Monitor, I made a brief video which shows what it looks like on the desk as well as direct capture from the in-built webcam. This monitor was bought to replace 2×20” TFT Widesceen (1680×1050) which were attached direct to the wall via a wall mount.
Can Microsoft Actually make Good Hardware?
After speaking to various people and the various hardware i have bought in the past plus stuff I already own, my question is “Can Microsoft actually make good hardware”? There is a very good reason for asking this very question and we go on to discuss future Microsoft hardware, should you trust this Software giant to make hardware that works on there very own operating system?
Logitech 9000 Pro Webcam
In the world of Webcam, if you want the best picture with the best light pickup, then you can do no better at this moment then the mighty Logitech 9000 Pro Webcam. If all you do is occasional video chat via Skype or whatever, then the cheap webcam’s will suit your needs (and save you a lot of money) but for anything else, maybe this webcam is the choice for now. Read on to find out my testing.
Microsoft VX-6000 Webcam
Microsoft VX-6000 Webcam – a 1.3MegaPixel, Wide Angle desktop webcam which seems to be very cheap from its RRP and looks like a bargain. The numbers and stats on the side of the box look amazing, its made by a named brand (Microsoft) and claims to work well in low-light – what can possible go wrong?
Webcam – Low Frames per Second
I was recently messing with the various webcam’s that I own which include the Creative Optia Pro to the Microsoft NX6000 and including a cheap one from ALDI. I was confused why I was only pushing out 6FPS – was there a problem with the computer? The Operating system? Was the bandwidth an issue or was it just plain madness?
Remote Controlled Helicopter Webcam
Imagine you got your hands on those cheap little RC Helicopters, they say on the side “Easy to fly” and you strapped to this a lightweight wireless webcam which runs from Batteries. The important thing here would be the Helicopter would be able to fly with the Camera attached. You can now fly the helicopter around while sending the Video online – forget your drive-cams and the like.
I am guessing the webcam would have to be bought from one of those SPY websites and you can pick up the Helicopter most places these days. Maybe there is already one out there, I have already seen Robot’s, Cars and such with a WebCam FItted (and powered) by the device. If you have come across anything like this – feel free to ket others know – as it sounds interesting.
